In addition, easily look-up and dial numbers from your personalized phone book or from your phone™s call history log. Don™t know the phone number for your destination? Simply find and dial it from nüvi's extensive points of interest database - including hotels, restaurants, stores, and attractions.

SMS/Text Messaging A new software enhancement which enables SMS Text Messaging on compatible Garmin GPS products when paired with compatible handsets with Bluetooth® wireless technology. Short Messaging Service (SMS) is available on most mobile phones that permit the sending of short messages. Garmin customers with compatible GPS units may download the free software update by visiting, http://www.garmin.com/support/. With this update users can send and receive SMS text messages in addition to other existing Bluetooth wireless technology features such as hands-free calling, POI dialing and address book syncing*. Furthermore, for those Garmin products that support text-to-speech (TTS), users can listen to the playback of the received text message read aloud on the unit.

Steering clear of traffic tie-ups just got easier
When it comes to avoiding traffic jams and bottlenecks, good decisions start with good information. And that's where Garmin's GTM 12 traffic receiver can make a quantum difference in any driver's quality of life.
The GTM 12 is a small FM-band traffic receiver that needs no installation and simply connects to your compatible Garmin GPS receiver to provide real-time Traffic Message Channel (TMC) data which is then used to depict and identify problem areas on their moving-map displays. Available in a fast-growing number of cities throughout the UK and Europe, this TMC data gives prompt, accurate notification of accidents, road construction, police, or emergency action, etc.-so drivers can visually monitor traffic flow and, if necessary, select an alternate route.
The TMC traffic alerting system works on an FM sideband signal which utilizes RDS (Radio Data Service) technology. Digitized and coded real-time traffic broadcasts are received via a "silent" FM data channel-which means that drivers can still listen to music or news programming on their car radios, without interference from the incoming FM traffic data transmissions. In most areas, depending on the service provider, TMC traffic broadcasts are continuous-there's no waiting for scheduled traffic news updates or random alerts. With the GTM 12, you see traffic developments in real-time, as they happen, so you can make the right decision sooner. The system will alert you when a traffic problem is on your route and propose an alternate route to avoid the incident.
